Mid West Cat Shelter Inc. cats are: Sterilised* – Microchipped – Health checked – Flea & worm treated – And have received at least their first vaccination.
*Male kittens receive a sterilisation voucher if under 6 months old. Female kittens can be adopted as soon as they are advertised, but cannot leave MWCS care until after they have been sterilised at approximately 12 weeks of age. Adults are sterilised upon coming into care
Our adoption fees are $200 for an adult and $250 for a kitten. Cats adopted through our friends at City Farmers are subject to instore pricing. This adoption fee is fantastic value for everything that’s included and couldn’t be done without the wonderful support of our friends at Sanford Veterinary Clinic!
Why Should I Adopt When I Can Just Get a Cat/Kitten For Free?
While the cat/kitten may be free it will cost you around $60 to micro-chip and anywhere upwards of $100 to sterilise a male and $160 to sterilise a female cat. Remember, these are legal requirements now for all cats over the age of six months. Add in a worm treatment, flea treatment and vaccinations and it adds up very quickly to a lot more than $200. Our adoption fee is fantastic value and by adopting from us you also get to save a beautiful cat from euthanasia, as well as freeing up a foster carer to save another cat from the CGG Animal Management Facility.
Our Adoption Process
Please call 0487 193 244 and speak with our Adoption Coordinator. Please ensure you leave a detailed message, including your name, phone number and the name of the cat(s) you would like to meet. A volunteer will return your call within 24 hours to determine if you and your chosen cat(s) will be a good match, and will also organise a time for you to meet the cat(s).
If the adoption goes ahead, our Adoption Coordinator will discuss a time and location to complete adoption paperwork with you and organise collecting your new cat(s).
