What To Know Before You Adopt

Adopting a new cat is a lifetime decision, and whilst kittens are tiny and cute, they will grow much bigger into full-sized cats. You need to think about if you’re able to be financially responsible for your cat for things like unexpected medical bills, ongoing food costs and registration. Are there any factors at home that you need to consider like will any current pets accept a new member of the family, or if you move will your new landlord allow you to have pets?

Our adoption fees are $275 for a kitten, $215 for an adult (7m-5yrs) and $175 for a mature adult (6yrs+). Cats adopted through our friends at Pet Barn are subject to instore pricing. This adoption fee is fantastic value for everything that’s included and couldn’t be done without the wonderful support of our friends at Sanford Veterinary Clinic!

Why Should I Adopt When I Can Just Get a Cat/Kitten For Free?

While the cat/kitten may be free it will cost you around $60 to micro-chip and anywhere upwards of $100 to sterilise a male and $160 to sterilise a female cat. Remember, these are legal requirements now for all cats over the age of six months. Add in a worm treatment, flea treatment and vaccinations and it adds up very quickly to a lot more than $275. Our adoption fee is fantastic value and by adopting from us you also get to save a beautiful cat from euthanasia, as well as freeing up a foster carer to save another cat from the CGG Animal Management Facility.

Our Adoption Process

Please call 0487 193 244 and speak with our Adoption Coordinator. Please ensure you leave a detailed message, including your name, phone number and the name of the cat(s) you would like to meet. A volunteer will return your call within 24 hours to determine if you and your chosen cat(s) will be a good match, and will also organise a time for you to meet the cat(s).

If the adoption goes ahead, our Adoption Coordinator will discuss a time and location to complete adoption paperwork with you and organise collecting your new cat(s).
